Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology (IT) Services, this position oversees and manages the operation and support of enterprise-level computer software applications and systems.

  • Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and operating efficient and forward-looking enterprise applications and digital systems.
    • Oversees and engages in enterprise software installations, configurations, enhancements, customizations, integrations, maintenance, updates, processes, and support.
    • Monitors, troubleshoots, and engages in diagnostic evaluation and problem resolution for enterprise applications.
    • Coordinates the work of vendors to schedule, maintain, and upgrade systems.
    • Reviews system data logs and rubrics to ensure high levels of performance.
    • Researches, evaluates, and makes recommendations for new technologies and technology providers to ensure the Town makes quality and cost-effective technical choices in systems, services, and strategies.
    • Works cooperatively to plan and schedule the testing and deployment of new technology applications and data integrations.
  • Oversees the provision of high-level user support and training for enterprise systems and applications.
    • Provides technical direction, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and assistance for application users, including complex support cases escalated from the Enterprise Systems Specialists. 
  • Initiates, manages, and completes enterprise application projects, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of IT Services. The project management scope includes budget and timeline management, communication, pre-implementation user orientation, implementation, training, risk management, customizations.
  • Collaborate with other IT managers on security measures to restrict the unauthorized access and inappropriate use of digital systems and data.
  • Creates and updates technical processes related to these systems.
  • Provides technical expertise and makes enterprise recommendations related to standards, security projects, implementation, and rollouts. 
  • Develops documentation for critical systems and communicates procedural changes to staff members. 
  • Participates in budget development and the procurement of IT equipment, software, and supplies, in cooperation with the Director of IT Services. 
  • Supervises, evaluates, and directs the Enterprise Applications Specialists.
  • Provides training and mentoring to Enterprise Applications Specialists.
  • Maintains a flexible daily schedule for off-hours planned network and systems maintenance.
  • Provides mandatory, off-hours emergency support for critical service interruptions and/or system failures.
  • Collaborates and assists other members of the IT department to ensure the smooth operation of systems and equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field.  Four years of similar and relevant applications specialist/ database management experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience with complex software applications, database management and/or ERP experience.

 

Abilities & Knowledge:

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems analysis and programming methodologies.
  • Knowledge of computer programming and data security.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of macOS, iOS, ChromeOS, and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience as a team leader and/or in a school district preferred.
  • Google Admin and or MS Admin certifications are preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Advanced computer troubleshooting, analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools and security software.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the job.  Includes adapting to and mastering new applications and processes implemented by the department.
  • Ability to respond to urgent calls on a 24/7 basis and to work off-hours shifts.
  • Ability to follow policy and procedures.
  • Ability to engage in effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, while demonstrating respect for their differences.

Supervision Received:

 

Works independently, reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services. 

 

Supervision Exercised:

 

Supervises two (2) Enterprise Applications Specialists.

 

Job Environment: 

 

Works in typical office environment, with moderate noise and occasional interruptions.

Ability to operate a keyboard at efficient speed and to view computer screens for extended periods of time. Operates motor vehicle. Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Work Year: 

This position has a work year of 260 days, at 7 hours per day.

 

Salary Information:

FLSA: Exempt

Proposed Salary Scale:  Independent Contract, Grade K: $99,235 - $113,464
