Program Specialist  - Needham Public Schools

The Needham Public Schools seeks individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences for the position of Program Specialist working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or behavioral disabilities.

Description:

 

The Program Specialist works in a special education setting to design programming for  students with ASD and/or behavioral disabilities. The Program Specialist works alongside the Special Education Liaison, BCBA and related service providers to develop and implement programming for students. The program specialist also provides direct training to teaching assistants. 

 

Job Requirements:

The program specialists holds credentials as either a BCBA, Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) or LABA, and have a minimum of 5 years experience working directly with students with ASD and/or behavioral disabilities. 

Essential Job Functions:

-Assist in the design and implementation of programming for students in all aspects of classroom instruction

-Assist in developing and maintaining record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance

-Assist with classroom behavior management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task

-Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising lunch, recess, arrival or dismissal duty

-Any additional tasks assigned by the Special Education Coordinator, Principal or Assistant

Principal Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

-Ability to make decisions in the moment to ensure the safety of all students

-Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs

-Ability to work collaboratively with multiple team members

-Ability to maintain confidential information regarding students and families
