The Needham Public School District is an inclusive, dynamic community seeking an energetic, skilled educator to join our team as a 6th grade Long Term Substitute in English Language Arts at the High Rock School.

This position will cover all professional responsibilities for a maternity leave, beginning on or near April 28 and ending with the conclusion of the school year (June 24, assuming 5 snow days).

These responsibilities include planning, teaching, and assessing four sections of ELA. Responsibilities also include running one section of advisory and one section of "SLS" (student math practice and independent reading time).  The long term substitute will work collaboratively with members of the English Department to follow the curriculum and with members of the "Cluster Team" to support student learning and growth.

Under the general supervision of the English Department Chair, this teacher will be responsible for advancing students' critical reading, thinking, and writing skills. As a Needham educator, this teacher will work collaboratively to integrate the attributes, skills, and knowledge made explicit in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate, emphasizing the preparation of students to become socially and culturally responsive contributors.
