Job Summary:
Required to perform all aspects of meal production, serving, and clean-up within the school kitchen and cafeteria as assigned by the school Cafeteria Manager and/or Assistant Manager. Permanent Cafeteria Workers also operate the computerized point of the sale cash register.
Qualifications:
The cafeteria worker will have the ability to:
- Lift up to 50lbs., rotate stock, move inventory, lift serving pans, equipment, etc.
- Receive deliveries and stock inventory in designated locations.
- Use commercial kitchen equipment to prepare and serve food in large quantities.
- Use cleaning solutions to clean kitchen equipment, serving areas, handwash pots and pans, and other cleaning and sanitizing duties.
- Perform all duties while following National Restaurant Association standards for sanitation and safety.
- Perform simple math functions and operate a computerized cash register and make accurate change.
- Walk and stand for the duration of the work shift.
- Work safely and accurately under a deadline.
- Learn and follow food safety procedures (annual ServSafe training is provided and is required to pass certification exam following training).
- Follow directions and ability to work independently.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and contribute to a positive and respectful working environment.
- Safely tolerate exposure to heat, humidity, steam, cooking odors, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and cleaning solutions.
- Work in a clean and sanitary manner.
- Have fun and display a positive attitude at work.
Working Conditions:
- Extended periods of standing and walking throughout the work shift in a non-air conditioned environment.
- Restrain or cover hair at all times while performing duties.
- When applicable, facial hair is to be covered at all times while performing duties.
- Vinyl or plastic gloves are to be worn while handling food.
